Website wordt tweetalig (Website goes bi)

Tenminste, deels…

Op verzoek van verschillende, vooral Amerikaanse, onderzoekers heb ik besloten deze site deels tweetalig te maken. Nederlands is en blijft de basistaal waarin ik werk, Engels (of Amerikaans Engels) volgt (soms).

At least partly…

After an increasing number of requests from mainly US based researchers I decided to follow a policy of partial bilingual publishing. I know there are not many transgender research focussed websites on the Net. So I will do the following:

  • Major research publications will be in both Dutch and English.
  • Postings will be in Dutch with an English summary attached when appropriate.
  • Dutch goes first in every posting. Well almost every posting…
  • Research publications that are not considered ‘major’ will be in Dutch only and translated or summarised only by request.
  • All postings with a description between brackets in the title are either bilingual or contain an English summary. So, no brackets: beware for this is in the beautiful Dutch language!

The first publications that will come available in both Dutch and English will be the final research plan (expected end of July) and the startpublication (expected after the summer). Due to lack of resources – like time – I cannot afford to make my website completely bilingual. So I hope that these adjustments to my publication policy will be workable for international researchers.

Oh, and just for the record. English is not my native language and I do not like to distinguish between the ‘English’ I happen to use now and then and the ‘American English’ I tend to use most of the time, so please forgive me for mixing things up a little every now and then… If that is a problem to you, dear reader, there is only one solution: learn Dutch! Eh… Nederlands.

Kind regards,

Alice Verheij
